Bras and Breasts considered dumb inventions
Okay okay not fleshy breasts proper, and not modern bras as we know them today, but both of these inventive takes on the boob made their way into LIFE magazine’s “Dumb Inventions” review. And they account for 2 of the 30 whacky patents – thems good boob-odds! The “beating breasts” above are described as “artificial breasts with a built-in heartbeat, an invention from — where else? — Japan intended as a sleeping aid for very young children.” Yup. That’s weird all right. But my favorite of the two are the “cup bras” pictured below! They’re strapless, wireless, and best of all they make perfect ice cream containers! How the hell they were supposed to function as a bra only Charles L. Langs will ever know! Lol!
